Beavers Blog Jan 2019
The aim is to provide a blog/newsletter per half term when the programme is produced. This will hopefully reduce the numerous letters and e-mails being sent.
Here are a few things happening this term :
Jumble Sale – Saturday 2nd February
This is a great time to donate items you no longer need. The money raised from our jumble sales allow the group to function and provide essential equipment and subsidise camps and activities that your Son/Daughter take part in.
Movie Night and Sleep over – Friday 15th February
We will be playing board games and making popcorn.
We will be having hot chocolate and supper. In the morning we will be serving sausage cobs and cereals.
This will be an exciting evening (and work towards a couple of badges). If your Son/Daughter would like to bring a den to build then they are more than welcome but they will need to take it away with them on Saturday as we only have small bins.
The cost per Beaver Scout is £3, payable on the night.
Beaver Scouts that are not sleeping over are still able to join in on the usual Beaver night.
Hobbies and Collectors Badge Night – Friday 22nd March
Hobbies Badge – to be awarded this badge each Beaver Scout needs to :-
- Choose a hobby to take part in for at least 6 weeks
- Show that you have stuck with your hobby. Show what you know about your hobby and the skills you have learned.
- Tell and show the Colony, your Lodge or Leaders about your chosen hobby. Talk about why you enjoy it.
Collectors Badge – to be awarded this badge each Beaver Scout needs to:-
- Spend at least 6 weeks making a collection.
- Show your Colony or Lodge about your collection. What is your collection? Why do you collect these things? What is your favourite thing from your collection?
Your Son/ Daughter can do either of these badges or both but they will need to bring their collection/ hobby on Friday 22nd March. So they need to start collecting etc from at least 25th January (if they haven’t already got one)
We look forward to seeing what they are interested in.
And last, but not least just a few polite reminders.
- Please could the badges be sewn on the sweatshirt and not the polo top.
- And please could your Son/Daughter arrive promptly. We appreciate that some may find this difficult due to other commitments, but please be mindful that we may have to finish a little later than planned to complete the activities.
We hope that this information has been helpful to you and if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Until next time! Hedgehog and the Beaver Leader Team
